Loving Our Mother

10 May Loving Our Mother

Mother’s Day should be a sacred, holy day for honoring the Divine Mother.

More than pretty cards and sentimental flowers (all of which are nice to get from your kids when you’re a Mom!), we need to pay attention to how we treat our collective mother, the Earth.

Because we have moved so far away from Nature, our biosphere is collapsing with devastating consequences for humanity. We are approaching a dangerous point of no return.

This is not news to most of us who are paying attention. The question is what to do about it.

This Mother’s Day, go out and find a sacred place in nature. Take in the sights, sounds, and smells. Sit still and meditate or pray, giving thanks.

Make an offering. Offer your love, your gratitude, your dedication to do something about some of the problems our natural world faces – from climate change, to ocean acidity, to deforestation, river and air pollution, pesticides, gmo food, endangered species, protection of national parks and sacred land. The list of possibilities is long.

As I mention in The Global Heart Awakens, when we balance the Divine Father with an equal worship of the Divine Mother, their relationship comes into full partnership, as it is meant to be. Together they produce the Divine Child, which is our future, as everything is born from this union. Without an equal honoring of the Divine Feminine, we endanger our future.

In mythology, the Divine Child has powers that exceed either of its parents. Our future holds possibilities far beyond anything we’ve seen in the past – if we can honor and preserve Nature long enough to get there.

We can create a future that is holy and healthy. But the Divine Mother needs her due to continue supplying us with the gifts of the biosphere.

Perhaps this Mother’s Day, She will be loved the way She deserves to be. And while we’re at it, let’s make that happen every day.
