25 Jul Impeachment as a Global Imperative
What would you do if you had a chance to avert nuclear war? Wouldn’t you take any measures necessary to avoid such colossal damage?
Climate change, if it continues unchecked, will bring about death and calamity equal in scale to a nuclear war. The environment will be scorched beyond recognition. Millions will die. Hundreds of millions will be displaced from their homes due to flooding, fires, and diminished food supply. Disease will proliferate. Immigration will be magnified 100 fold. The oceans will perish, and water may become too scarce to wash off the sweat from 120 degree heat. It will most certainly end our privileged life as we know it. Some are saying it means the extinction of humanity.
The next five years is what little window we have left to avert the full-scale-disaster worst of it.
That means we cannot afford, under any circumstances whatsoever, to risk another four years of Donald Trump’s denial of science, abolishment of environmental regulations, tariffs on solar panels, and all the other ways he will unleash a living hell from which we will never recover.
This one issue, despite countless others too numerous to list, is a make or break moment for our children and grandchildren, indeed for the whole planet. It is not partisan. It is not religious. It’s science.
Yet the likelihood that Donald Trump will manipulate his way into another four years is quite high, as Mueller has suggested in his recent testimony. Little has been done about Russian meddling, the hackability of our voting machines, the Supreme Court’s protection of gerrymandering, and with Republicans in power, little is likely to be done, even if collusion and obstruction are as obvious as they were last time.
The only way to keep this from happening is to make sure Trump can’t run again. And that means impeach him before the 2020 elections. That is the only way to keep him from stealing the presidency again, and sending humanity down the drain.
This is not a legal issue to be determined by Robert Mueller as to whether he broke the law or not. This is not about racist remarks or inhumane practices at the border. This is not even an American issue. It is a global imperative.
We have no precedent for this. There have never been stakes this high, never so much riding on the power of a single man who must be stopped before he destroys everything.
The world stopped Hitler, even though it took a disastrous war and the lives of millions. The world must come together to stop Donald Trump from another term.
There is no other choice if we are to survive.

Blessings to you!

Posted at 05:33h, 27 JulyGreat arguments . My concern is that if we impeach Trump we are stuck with Pence who is even more far right than Trump and a real homophobe. He is scary as Hell despite his more respectable demeanor. The best thing is to get rid of both by finding a Democrat pair that reasonable republicans and democrats will prefer to have in office than the nightmare that currently exists.

Posted at 02:25h, 28 JulyAnodea, thank you for speaking what many are thinking. I agree it is a national imperative. But I speculate many of those will similar viewpoints are individuals at a loss as how to organize and/or join existing groups with the same sentiments whereby the impact or movement can energize the maximum effect. I imagine many pockets exist that have not been previously politically active but feel great concern that could be united in this common cause. Perhaps some guidance toward this end by those who are now engaged would be of value in consolidating those that have never entered this arena but now feel compelled to do so.
Thank you so much!
